I have always loved weddings – the expectations in advance, followed by sharing joyful celebrations of couples committing themselves toward a shared future - really captures my attention. That is probably why in 2013, a close friend who is a successful celebrant thought I possessed the qualities to join him in helping couples achieve their perfect wedding. After some hesitation, I accepted his challenge, undertook the training and obtained my official registration and am now so pleased I did.
My own wedding to the gorgeous Sarah 26 years ago was one of the happiest days of my life. I am a far better person for loving her, and remain thankful for binding my life to hers through the sacrament of marriage. We have shared a wonderful life thus far, and are super-proud parents of four happy and healthy young adults: Jess, Tom, Will and Henry, plus our two spoilt Labradors Sadie and Ruby. Sunday night family dinners are the highlight our week, where attendance is compulsory and news, plans and plenty of bad jokes are shared. Our household is frequently chaotic, but never short on affection.
As a great listener who loves mixing with all types of people, once we get together to chat about your wedding, I am great at teasing out your preferences and showing initiative by offering suggestions if necessary. I am also a creative and practical person, who is up to date with current wedding trends, fashions and technology. I am aware that details make the difference (eg, remembering to bring matches to light candles) and react calmly in case things don’t quite proceed as planned on the day.
My tact, sensitivity, judgement and excellent communication skills stand me in great stead to plan beautiful ceremonies that capture your preferences, and will leave your family and friends impressed. I pay attention to maintaining a professional appearance, and will be dressed in modern suit and tie for ceremonies, unless you request something less formal.
I am registered with the Attorney-General’s Department as an Authorised Marriage Celebrant (# A16805) and hold membership of the Association of Civil Marriage Celebrants Victoria (ACMCV), including personal and public liability insurance.
Outside of home, I am involved with the Old Carey Grammarians Football club in an assistant coaching role, and very much enjoy keeping myself fit and healthy.
